Client during the winter was experiencing over heating from the sun due to south exposed glass. Now you would think in the winter you would want the sun’s heat but when only one side your building the sun is over heating that part along your internally generated heat. Basically the rest of the building is not getting the benefit of the sun but the heat is running to keep that part of the building warm, which makes it too warm for the area that is exposed to the sun.
Most of our large projects call us because of this problem in the winter. Energy engineers learned long ago they must get the sun out of the equation to evenly heat and cool a building throughout the year.
Obviously once a high heat rejection commercial window film is installed it will create a payback due to reduced utitlity costs in the spring, summer, and fall.
With 100% metallized solar films having manufacturers warranties ranging from 10-15 years these products pays for itself 3 to 5 times before the warranty has expired, and with an expected life of 18-20 years, solar film becomes and automatic no-brainer solution!
