Custom Colored Printed Vinyl – Ft Worth , TX

Architectural Glass Solutions was recently contacted by a contractor to provide exterior covering of glass to hide wall studs & insulation visible from the exterior view of the windows.  This was wall build out behind the existing glass for the renevation of the Sandman Hotel in downtown Ft. Worth, TX

The challenge: Contractor was wanting a product that could be color coded to match the existing newly painted trim so it aesthetically blend in with the building

They provided us a paint code and we were able to color print a vinyl product to a close match that is weatherable for exterior applications.

Primary Aesthetic and Concealment Benefits

  • Professional, finished exterior appearance: Opaque, frosted, or printed vinyl transforms clear glass into a solid or semi-solid surface that hides studs, insulation, wiring, unfinished walls, or construction mess. This creates a clean, polished facade instead of an incomplete or industrial look from the street.
  • Improved curb appeal and brand image: The building presents as intentional and complete rather than under construction or poorly finished. Custom graphics, branding, patterns, or solid colors can further enhance the look and turn the glass into visual real estate.
  • Privacy without structural changes: It blocks views into back-of-house, mechanical, or incomplete areas while maintaining the glass plane.

Practical and Cost Advantages

  • Fast, low-disruption, and cost-effective alternative: Vinyl application is far cheaper and quicker than replacing glass with opaque/spandrel panels, adding interior finishes/walls, or full facade work. Installation involves minimal equipment and downtime compared to glazing replacement.
  • Flexibility and removability: High-quality films (especially removable-grade vinyl) can be temporary for construction phases, tenant fit-outs, or campaigns, then cleanly removed without damaging glass or leaving residue. This supports changing needs without permanent alterations.
  • Suitable for exterior application: Films can go on the outside surface when interior access is limited (e.g., built-in fixtures or equipment against the glass). Exterior placement can also deliver slightly better heat rejection by intercepting solar energy before it enters the glass, though it faces more weather exposure and typically has a shorter service life than interior films.
